Unless something changes, all signs are indicating that former world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (41-4-1, 38 KOs) will be the next opponent announced by WBC super flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, who is expected to reveal his next foe on January 15.

Gonzalez confirms "I will fight on HBO" in terms of the televised support in the United States, but he won't yet confirm the exact opponent as the details are being finalized.

The next defense by Gonzalez, according to sources in Nicaragua, would take place on March 18th as part of Gennady Golovkin vs. Daniel Jacobs HBO Pay-Per-View from New York's Madison Square Garden.

Sor Rungvisai is the mandatory challenger under the WBC, and Gonzalez has started working with boxers who are similar to the style of Sor Rungvisai.

Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), says Gonzalez must face the tough Thai fighter - unless Gonzalez reaches a deal for a rematch with Carlos Caudras.

Gonzalez captured the title from Cuadras in a very close fight last September to become the first boxer from Nicaragua to win world titles in four weight divisions. Sulaiman was willing to delay the mandatory obligation to allow the rematch to take place, but Gonzalez wants a lot of money for the second fight.

"The most important thing is that I have a good purse no matter who the opponent is. I will fight with HBO, that's a fact," said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez will likely head over to Costa Rica to begin training camp.

"It's still not confirmed, because we were looking at Big Bear, but it's getting very cold. But if it's Costa Rica we would be leaving on January 15 possibly. We'll look for one of the sparring partners to be a foreigner," said Wilmer Hernandez, co-trainer of González.
