Robbie Davies Jr. will make a defence his title in the new year.

The Liverpool super-lightweight, who is currently undefeated, is set to return on January 21 at Preston Guild Hall.

Davies Jr. (14-0, 10 KOs) was last in action on December 10 at Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium when he stopped Lukasz Janik inside four rounds.

But it has now been revealed that Willie Limond will be the man in the opposite corner in the first month of 2017.

The Liverpudlian’s WBA Continental crown will be at stake between the pair on card promoted by Neil Marsh.

The news of the fight between Davies and Limond was first revealed by Boxing Scene on November 26, though details at that stage were scarce.

Thanks to work by Boxing Scene’s Chris Glover along with a Facebook status from Alex Morrison, it was originally thought that the fight would take place in Liverpool in February, with Limond’s manager writing on Facebook that he hoped to stage a world title fight for the 37-year-old (39-5, 11 KOs), in Glasgow should he come out victorious.

But Davies Jr.’s promoter, Marsh, confirmed on social media on Monday that the fight will happen on the January date, while also revealing that Bill Hodgson will box alongside Zach Parker on the card.

Further details, including more additions to the card, will be revealed in due course.
