It's official - the World Boxing Council has announced that WBC super flyweight champion Zulina Munoz will fight a mandatory defense next, against WBC Silver super flyweight champion Mariana Juarez.

The WBC's Director of Press and Boxing Sage Prof Victor Cota, explained the date of the mandatory is up to both sets of boxing promoters...by herein lies the snag.

In a conference call, promoter Reginaldo Kuchle said that Mariana is chalked down to fight new WBC champion Jackie Nava next, probably in Chiapas in November. Somewhere down the line Mariana is also itching for a rematch with Ava Knight, who she fought when ill, and to whom she dropped a unanimous decision.

Zulina (43-1-2, 27KOs), who successfully defended her crown at the weekend against Karina Hernandez at the first ever WBC Women's Convention, which was held in Playa Del Carmen, was also present at the WBC press conference in Zona Rosa, sitting quite near, but not that very close to Mariana. The two way crossfire smiles were not plastered on, but they WERE tense! Zulina suggested: "Let's put the proposal on the table, which we can talk about, and also purses."

Marina (40-7-3, 17KOs) tentatively considered the idea of being on the meager end of a 70-30 split as a challenger. But that would hardly keep the wolf from the door.
