Shane Mosley appears to indeed be the recognized WBA "super" welterweight champion, while Ukrainian Yuri Nuzhnenko continues to be the "regular" WBA champion and could be defending against compatriot Vyacheslav Senchenko in early April in Donetsk.

 

The WBA are also returning with their "international" title. The same name but different people are working it. It´s not to be confused with the "intercontinental" bauble that was created in the ashes of the old "international" organization.

 

Roberto Prieto has passed away at the age of 70. The Spaniard promoted, managed and trained EBU champs such as Jose Ramon Gomez Fous and Antonio Jiminez.

 

Spotlight Boxing stages a show March 20 in Hamburg with Susi Kentikian vs Elena Reid headlining. In the co-feature heavyweight Sebastian Koeber faces veteran Willi Fischer. A third main bout is not confirmed by Spotlight but middleweight Sebastian Zbik appears to be on for a bout against Ruben Varon of Spain.

 

The Swedish Federation have now appealed to a higher court in regards of the decision from Martial Arts Delegation to stick with the current rules that only allow fights over a maximum of 12 minutes. The appeal is a 35 page memorandum and again the Swedish Federation insist on that there is such thing as a "european boxing federation" referring to the EBU.

 

Alexander Kotlobay from Russia and Joszef Nagy from Hungary clash for the WBO Latin title at cruiserweight on February 20 in St Petersburg. Middleweight Guenadyi Martyrosian face Thai Kiatchai Sinwangcha over ten in the co-feature.

 

Dennis Boytsov will now face Puerto Rican Israel Carlos Garcia for the vacant WBA I/C heavyweight title on February 7 in Rostock as part of the the Chagaev vs. Drumond bill.

 

French welterweight Franck Harroche Horta has pulled out of the "Grand Tournoi" tournament and will next move up to jr. middle and face German-based Ukrainian Andrei Rimer February 6 in Calais.

 

WBA super middleweight champ Mikkel Kessler is now in Denmark after a few weeks of vacation in Thailand. Kessler will meet with his lawyers and then with Team Palle to try and ressolve their dispute.
