Retired former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) has continued to tease a jump to mixed martial arts.

Mayweather recently spoke with TMZ Sports and said that he plans to begin training with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in the near future.

Mayweather, 41, announced his retirement from boxing after stopping UFC superstar ConorMcGregor in the tenth round of a boxing match last August at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It was Mayweather's first fight in two years, while McGregor was making his pro debut in a boxing ring.

Since that contest, Mayweather has teased on social media - with photos and videos - that he was mulling the idea of jumping in the octagon.

Woodley stated in an interview that he would be happy to train Mayweather for an MMA debut.

And Mayweather told TMZ that he's been speaking with Woodley to begin training.

"I'm gonna start soon," Mayweather said. "We've been texting back and forth. We talked a couple times, so we gonna start working out real soon."

UFC president Dana White told ESPN in December that his company was talking to Mayweather about striking a deal. It’s unclear who Mayweather would fight if he joined UFC, but McGregor, a two-division UFC champion, would be a massive favorite in a rematch inside the octagon. One name that was being kicked around, was former WWE superstar CM Punk, who got demolished in his only UFC fight a few years ago.

"We're talking to Floyd about doing a UFC deal," White told ESPN. "It's real. He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren't real? He usually tips his hand when he's in the media, and then that s--- ends up happening."

Mayweather wasn’t shy about giving himself some credit while discussing his MMA skills.

“I can wrestle. My wrestling game is not that bad,” Mayweather told TMZ Sports. “On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s probably a 7. And I think we can take it up to a 9 if possible. Of course, my hand game, 1 to 10, is 100. My kicking game, on a scale of 1 to 10, is probably a 4.”
