Abel Sanchez, best known as the head trainer of middleweight king Gennady Golovkin, is siding with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) to defeat IBF, IBO, WBA champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) - if the two undefeated champions ever step in the ring.

First up for Joshua is a unification with WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs), which takes place on March 31 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

Sanchez was the head trainer for Andy Ruiz, when the Mexican heavyweight fought Parker for the vacant WBO world title in December of 2016.

In what was a very close fight, Parker won a majority decision over Ruiz to walk away with the WBO title.

Sanchez does not expect Parker to overcome Joshua later this month,

"I fought Joseph Parker with Andy Ruiz. I had Andy Ruiz for just one training camp and in that one training camp we were able to go down to New Zealand and we lost by majority decision, but actually if you’re in New Zealand and you lose a majority decision, you didn’t lose the fight," Sanchez told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"In one training camp I was able to get Andy Ruiz to the point where he could almost beat Joseph Parker. Parker has not improved that much to beat Anthony Joshua, I don’t think. Anthony Joshua being a gold medalist and the world champion that everybody looks to, other than Wilder. I think that Anthony Joshua should win the fight."

Sanchez is a big believer in the ability of Wilder.

Earlier this month, Wilder survived near disaster when he was badly hurt in the seventh round of his fight with Luis Ortiz - but he managed to recover and rallied strong to knock Ortiz out in the tenth.

If Wilder and Joshua meet in the ring - Sanchez is picking Wilder to power his way to a twelve round decision win.

"I think that anybody that Wilder hits with that straight right hand is going to sleep for a week," Sanchez said. "Wilder has a heck of a right hand and is getting better at boxing.

"Wilder goes crazy at times when he hurts somebody and it looks very amateurish, but I think people focus too much on those particular moments when he gets somebody hurt and he acts like a fool, but before that to hurt them, he’s actually a decent boxer. Mark Breland is doing a heck of a job with Wilder.

"In the Wilder-Joshua fight, Wilder may have the advantage with punching power. Wilder is a big rangy man who is going to hit you from the outside. I’ve had Murat Gassiev spar with Wilder and Wilder is very talented. If you ask me who I think will win that fight, I think that Wilder wins the fight because he drops Joshua and then maybe cruises to a decision."
