The president of the World Boxing Council, Mauricio Sulaiman, has asked everyone not to speculate about a possible fight between middleweight champions Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin - because both have scheduled commitments and it's a lack of respect for opponents.

This coming Saturday, Golovkin will defend his WBA/IBO/IBF titles against mandatory challenger Dominic Wade at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.

Canelo is back two weeks later, on May 7th, when he defends the WBC belt against Amir Khan at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

If Golovkin and Canelo are victories in their respective bouts, the WBC has ordered them to face each other in the fall.

Both boxer are very large favorites to win the upcoming defenses. Sulaiman views each contest as being very dangerous and feels it's not right for everyone to continuously discuss the subject of Golovkin vs. Canelo when both boxers have yet to win their upcoming contest. Once both of those fights are in the books, then Sulaiman will begin the process of meeting with both sides to confirm their plans.

"I think it would be disrespectful [to speculate on whether or not this fight will happen], especially for the opponents of Golovkin and Canelo. I think these are dangerous fights. They are scheduled to fight and until we know the results of April 23 and May 7, respectively, then we can see decide what the fighters are planning to do.

"Once we get past the results of those fights, we are going to meet with the promoters to find out what their intentions are, if they are actually planning to fight in December as they are saying, but for now we will not disrespect them or their opponents."
