Unified champion Andre Ward continued his dominance over the Super Middleweight division as he defeated Light Heavyweight champion Chad Dawson in front of his hometown on September 8th. He even managed to put an exclamation point on it as he became the first fighter to ever stop Dawson.

As Ward continues to prove he is truly one of the top elite fighters in the sport right now, he’s run into one little problem; he’s cleaned out his division.

“That's a good problem to have if I'm going to have any problems. I'm happy about that” Ward would tell BoxingScene’s official radio show The Boxing Lab. “I'm aware of what we've done up to this point and there are not a lot of options at 168. I think you have one or two guys that are the top but I've either already fought them or it's probably not realistic to make a fight. And you have young guys that are on their way up to contender status and those aren't really options either so I really don't know what's next”.

After his victory over Dawson, Ward mentioned a fight with him and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr would be a great possibility should Chavez get past Sergio Martinez. Those plans have gone up in smoke as Chavez not only lost, but he tested positive for marijuana in his post fight drug test which will surely mean he will be suspended for some time. Ward also realizes Martinez is too small and weight would be the breaking point.

All hope is not lost however as Andre does bring up one fighter out there as a possibility and also mentions a possible move up in weight.

“I mean you got guys like Kelly Pavlik out there. I know he's got one more shot left in him and he's mentioned my name and not disrespectfully. He's just saying he wants another crack at a top guy so Kelly is definitely an option. He's got a name and he's still a tough fighter” said Ward.

“ And of course the 175 pound division which I'm excited about. I don't know if it's going to be my next fight but I'm just excited about that next challenge and I think my body is going to be happy about having that extra weight on me as well. I think I'm going to be a lot stronger”.
