During the last week of June, IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (34-3, 13KOs) signed a contract with manager/adviser Al Haymon, who handles the careers of at least 40 other fighters. Haymon has been busy in 2014, signing up an army of fighters to his already beefed up stable. Some of his 2014 acquisitions include Adonis Stevenson, Amir Khan, Rances Barthelemy, Roberto Garcia, Andrew Fonfara, Abner Mares, Chad Dawson and several others.

IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (34-3, 13KOs) has no intention of changing his style for the upcoming defense against Mickey Bey (20-1-1, 10KOs), taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as part of the September 13th undercard to the rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana. Vazquez's style is not pretty, but it's made him a very tough fighter to beat. During his title reign, which began in 2010, Vazquez beat an assortment of top contenders and undefeated challengers.

Mickey Bey was miles ahead on all three scorecards and had just three minutes to go in his Showtime-televised headliner versus John Molina, Jr. last July. Then disaster struck. Molina Jr. rallied back hard, catching Bey coming in to start a fight-ending flurry that all but left the unbeaten lightweight out on his feet. Referee Vic Drakulich gave the rising prospect his fair chance to recover and fight back, but was left with no choice but to stop the fight with just under one minute left. To date, it’s the only fight that Bey failed to win, and in a fight he was handily winning until he wasn’t. Two straight wins have followed heading into his first major title shot, when he faces lightweight titlist Miguel Vazquez. The bout takes place on September 13 in supporting capacity to the pay-per-view rematch between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Featured on the four-fight pay-per-view telecast, fan favorite Leo "Terremoto" Santa Cruz will put his WBC Super Bantamweight World Championship on the line in a 12-round championship bout against Mexican contender Manuel "Suavecito" Roman, plus Tijuana-Baja's pride Miguel "Títere" Vazquez defends his IBF Lightweight World Championship against Mayweather Promotions' rising star Mickey "The Spirit" Bey. In the opening bout on pay per view, Alfredo "El Perro" Angulo returns to the ring against James De La Rosa in a 10-round bout. Bey's Manager Expects Big Win Against Miguel Vazquez

BoxingScene had previously reported that TMT fighter Mickey Bey would be fighting IBF Lightweight champion Miguel Vasquez on August 30th but things have changed. Bey’s manager Dejuan Blake confirmed to BoxingScene that the fight will now take place on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana mega fight on September 13th. “Mickey Bey date has changed to September 13th as the co-main – well I’m not sure if it’s the co-main or the one before the co-main – for Mayweather-Maidana. It’s going to be a good show” Blake would tell BoxingScene. “

BoxingScene.com has been advised by a source close to the situation that IBF Lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (34-3, 13KOs) will take on Mickey Bey (20-1, 10KOs) on August 30th at a site yet to be determined. This will be Vasquez's 7th defense of his IBF title. He was last seen in the ring in February when he defeated mandatory challenger Denis Shafikov after not having fought in 2013. Vasquez recently signed to Al Haymon and became part of a long list of fighters who aligned themselves with the powerful advisor.
