Tyson Fury may be the new heavyweight champion of the world but Joseph Parker believes it is only a matter of time before the belt is strapped around his waist.

Fury stunned the boxing world on Saturday when he out-pointed Wladimir Klitschko to hand the Ukrainian his first defeat in 11 years.

Speaking ahead of his bout against American Daniel 'The Mountain' Martz at the Fight for Life in Hamilton on Saturday, Parker praised the British boxer for bringing the heavyweight division to life with his upset in Germany.

Tyson Fury stunned Wladimir Klitschko on Sunday to claim the world heavyweight title. Joseph Parker has since said he is ready to take on any heavyweight in the world.

But he believes he is capable of beating both him and Klitschko.

"If I train hard and have a great training camp and I'm as prepared as I can be, I can take any heavyweight in the world," the 23-year-old Kiwi told reporters.

Fury recorded a unanimous decision over Klitschko, who looked every bit of his 39 years of age in a disappointing display.

And Parker's trainer Kevin Barry had no doubt that not only would his fighter have beaten Klitschko, he would have knocked him out.

"I would definitely back Joe with the performance that Klitschko gave last Saturday," said Barry.

"I watched the fight on Sunday as a fan, but also as a coach, and I saw a lot of opportunities.

"I honestly believe from the bottom of my heart that not only would he have beaten Klitschko last Sunday, he would have knocked him out."

Parker puts his 16-fight undefeated record on the line against the two-metre tall Martz this weekend, who has 14 wins and two losses with 11 knockouts.
