Gaby Peñagarícano, the legal adviser to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KO's), plans to sit down with his client in the month of August to discuss his next opponent for a planned return in December.

Peñagarícano also responded to some recent comments from Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBO/WBA champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KO's).

In a recent interview on BoxingScene.com, Sanchez called for a fight between Golovkin and Cotto. He says Cotto should fight a real middleweight opponent or vacant his title and return to 154-pounds.

Peñagarícano is not surprised by Team Golovkin's desire to face Cotto, but he doesn't believe the boxer from Khazakstan has built his name to a level where it makes a potential fight with Cotto a lucrative pay-per-view success.

"That was very funny from my dear friend Abel. He is my personal friend," Gaby stated. "Golovkin is a fighter who has not yet reached the majors in boxing. He is a fighter who has not even participated in a pay-per-view in his career. So it's a little premature for me to talk about Golovkin, but I'm not surprised by the statements of Abel. Still, we have not sat down with Miguel to discuss the upcoming fight. It is too early for us [to talk about his next fight] and we should be getting together in August."

"Miguel is in the driver's seat and once we know what he want to do, and the weight, and who Miguel wants to fight - then any fighter who wants to fight with him will have to stay at that weight or not fight. I do not think Golovkin is in a position to be dictating anything. But once we sit down to talk, we will know what he wants to do."
