Multiple sources in the Russian media have confirmed that the former WBO heavyweight champion of the world Shannon Briggs (51-6-1, 45 KOs) will be back in the ring on December 17 at Crocus City Hall in Myakinino, Moscow, Russia. The American veteran will face 31-year old Raphael Zumbano Love (32-6-1, 25 KOs) of Brazil. The bout is scheduled for 8 rounds.
Briggs got the WBO heavyweight title in November 2006 by beating Siarhei Liakhovich, but lost the belt in the next fight by dropping a unanimous decision to Sultan Ibragimov. Almost 41-years old “The Cannon” has been out of boxing since his loss to the current WBC champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KOs) in October of 2010.
Los Angeles-based Love has fought three times this year, losing twice. In his last ring appearance the Brazilian fighter was beaten by 41-years old Serbian Jovo Pudar.
In the main event of the Moscow show, WBA world cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18 KOs) will defend his title against Santander Silgado (23-0, 18 KOs) of Colombia
