New York, NY - With undefeated IBF middleweight champion Peter Quillin still in search of an opponent for his upcoming title defense October 26 in Atlantic City, former WBC junior middleweight champion and current world-rated middleweight contender Sergio Mora says that he would be honored to step in to face the champ. "Peter Quillin is a really strong, big, and avoided middleweight champion. He is annihilating everyone that he steps in against and because of that, not many people are jumping at the chance to face him. I have never been afraid to face any fighter in my entire career though and the same goes for Peter," stated Mora. Mora continued, "His style reminds me a lot of the late great Vernon Forrest, so I would be very familiar with the task at hand and would love the opportunity to take on that challenge. Being able to return to the network where I had the biggest win of my entire career, to take on another highly regarded world champion, would truly be an absolute honor."

Former champion Sergio Mora is siding with the skills of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) to overcome the strength and youth of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs). A few weeks ago, Mora was ringside at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, and watched Mayweather's fighter, Mickey Bey, dominate John Molina for nearly nine rounds - but then Molina caught him with a big shot in the tenth and final round and stopped him. Most ringside observers believe Bey was trying to close the show by knocking Molina out, and also trying to impress Mayweather, who was ringside.

32-year old former Jr. Middleweight titlist Sergio Mora (23-3-2, 7 KO) of Los Angeles, California, got back to winning with a decisive ten-round victory over former Middleweight title challenger Grzegorz Proksa (29-3, 21 KO) of Jaworzno, Poland, on Friday night at the Veteran’s Coliseum in Jacksonville, Florida. Both men came in below the Middleweight division limit of 160 lbs., Proksa at 159 ½ and Mora at 159 ¾. The awkward Proksa struggled in spots with the speed and bodywork or Mora in each of the first three rounds but really started to find some range in the last of them. His straight left from the southpaw stance was starting to get in, even if a nasty body shot from Mora had Proksa shaking his head to say it didn’t bother him.

To accomplish those things, the former WBC super welterweight champion fully understands that he has to defeat Polish southpaw Grzegorz Proksa on Friday night in Jacksonville, Fla. Mora (23-3-2, 7 KOs) would love nothing more than to get a shot at the heavily promoted middleweight champion that stopped Proksa nearly 10 months ago, but toppling Proksa (29-2, 21 KOs) won’t be easy in a 10-round middleweight match ESPN2 will televise as the main event of a “Friday Night Fights” telecast from Jacksonville, Fla.
