Scott Harrison: record, next fight and profile →
Former amateur standout and 2007 WC bronze medalist Bradley Saunders (4-0, 3 KOs) dropped tough but badly overmatched Slovakian opponent Ivan Godor (9-24-4, 4 KOs) three times in round three, before a mercy from the referee Richie Davis was issued at 1:25. Godor was down every time after hard straight right hands by the Briton.
Promoter Frank Warren has given Scott Harrison genuine hope that he could return to world title action by fighting the winner of Saturday's contest between Ricky Burns and Kevin Mitchell. Former world champion Harrison will box on the undercard of the WBO lightweight title fight in Glasgow in only his second bout in almost seven years. The 34-year-old spent time in a Spanish jail for assault after his career was thrown off course amid personal and alcohol problems. The Scot gave up his WBO featherweight title in 2006 after failing to make the weight for a defence and fought a long battle to regain his licence, before returning to the ring in June with a fourth-round stoppage against Hungarian teenager Gyorgy Mizsei Jr.
One of the world’s top middleweight prospects, Chris Eubank Jr will step in the ring for the first time on foreign soil as a professional on Saturday, September 22 at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn, Denmark.
By Terence Dooley - According to Alex Morrison, the manager of former WBO featherweight titlist Scott Harrison, John Murray has agreed terms for a showdown with the Scottish boxer. If Harrison also agrees to the deal, they will meet on the Ricky Burns versus Kevin Mitchell undercard in a bout that will net the winner a crack at the victor of the Burns-Mitchell WBO lightweight title fight. "Everything is in place and all that Scott needs to do now is sign the contract,” said Alex Morrison.
Trainer Joe Gallagher has dismissed any possibility of a potential show stealing war between John Murray and Scott Harrison on the undercard of Ricky Burns against Kevin Mitchell in September. Prior to speaking to Gallagher over the phone, BoxingScene had been informed that Harrison, a former world featherweight champion, had been offered the Murray fight and negotiations were due to take place by the end of the week.
Scepticism about whether or not Scott Harrison would actually return to the ring was not be quashed until he stepped through the ropes last Friday night in Glasgow. “He’s due to be on next,” were the words uttered to myself and other journalists by a nervous press officer as the undercard rolled on without the proposed star attraction. “He should be on next. He’ll be on in a few minutes.” With each passing statement we all sat and wondered whether a fighter who has comfortably covered more front pages than back in his career would be actually making an appearance. Had the nerves gotten the better of him? Had he gone AWOL again? Was this the last rites to a comeback that never even got started? Questions, whispers, doubts and another rumour about Harrison being unhappy with his gloves were all doing the rounds as a healthy Kelvin Hall crowd turned out to see one of “The Prodigal Son’s” return. “He’s definitely on next.”
The 34-year-old finally banished years of personal problems, which included a spell in a Spanish prison, and showed he still had the punching power that saw him enjoy numerous world title defences in his heyday.
It was a reversal of fortune in its severest form as John Simpson avenged a previous loss to Paul Appleby with an emphatic 6th round stoppage win Friday evening at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland.

No sooner had manager Alex Morrison talked of a possible shot at Derry Mathews’ British lightweight belt, had Scott Harrison then dismissed a match-up with the European title challenger.
