This past week on ATG Radio, junior middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado stopped by to accept his award for "ATG 2012 Comeback Fighter of the Year".  We had some time to discuss his upcoming fight with WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin on HBO on 1/19.  Gabe had the following to say about his upcoming opportunity:

"I am excited about the opportunity with GGG.  I could have waited for the mandatory with K9 but I thought a fight with GGG and winning that Middleweight crown would be a bigger reward.  Everyone is talking about him like he is the next big thing but I have just been looking forward to the challenge."

When asked if he thought the fight would go the distance:

"He is getting knocked out.  I'd say about the 8th or 9th round!"

When asked if this is what he envisioned:

" It's something I've always envisioned.  A shot at the world title.  A fight on HBO and having it take place at Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of boxing.  It doesn't get any better.  I am extremely focused on the fight and it doesn't get any better."

On being the underdog:

"I know I am the big underdog and a lot of people are counting me out.  I think a lot of people are getting caught up with HBO saying he is some killer and everyone eats it all up.  If you look at it like that the guys he has been out there, I am a different fighter.  I am seasoned and experienced!"

On the power factor:

"Everyone is talking about how big his punch is.  I think they are underestimating my power.  I definitely have punching power.  I can knock you out.  I think with the extra weight at 160 I am going to be much stronger.  The fans are definitely going to have a great fight to watch!"
