From his native Celaya, former interim-featherweight champion Robinson Castellanos says he is in good condition for his upcoming debut in the United States, scheduled for Thursday the 9th of October. He will faces undefeated Ronny Rios in a function being put together by Golden Boy Promotions at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

The bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, and it will mark the return of "Robin" for the first time since the unexpected February loss to Nicaraguan René Alvarado. The loss ended a streak of 11 consecutive victories which dated back to December 2010. The best victory of that run was in April 2013, when he went to Panama to win by split decision over local hero Celestino Caballero, who visited the canvas in the first round.

"I forgot already [about the Alvarado loss]. The problem was the weight. The of getting down there cost me, but now that problem has been overcome [since I hired a conditioner and nutritionist]. Rios is very good fighter, but we are preparing hard to get ahead. We are getting into the fitness and with the help of a nutritionist, we are well within the weight. Now we are coming in with a new mentality. Everything will be very different," Castellanos said.

Castellanos has a record of 19 wins to 10 losses, with 12 of his wins coming by way of knockout. Rios, meanwhile, has not lost in 23 professional fights and decided 10 of those by knockout.
