Freddie Roach is back training the mercurial Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. again at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood and he has a clear game plan in mind moving forward.

The veteran trainer wants Chavez to have at least one tune-up fight, and then wants to move him to a super middleweight clash with WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, who would have to move up by eight pounds to make the fight.

"I want one tune-up fight, at least, maybe two, and I want 'Triple G'. I want to fight him at 168 and see how bad he really is,'' said the noted trainer, of the former middleweight champion who is still looking for that big marquee fight.

Chavez Jr (49-2-1, 32 KO's) last fought on July 18th where he struggled to get past Marcos Reyes over ten rounds. For that fight he weighed in at 170.75 pounds. Roach has trained Chavez for a few years, until the Mexican star split away in 2012. He then hooked up with Joe Goossen and most recently Robert Garcia.

Roach says Chavez has been in,"Twelve days in a row, he's been happy and I'm happy with his work ethic. I go six-to-eight rounds of mitts with him. I've been pushing him really hard since I got back from Russia, he's been responding well."

The no-nonsense Justin Fortune is now his strength-and-conditioning coach.

A date being kicked around for Chavez's return is July 16th.

"They talked about that date and it fits very well because it seven-to-eight weeks away,"said Roach.
