Anaheim, CA - A new Cinderella story was created when Argentina's David Emanuel 'El Pirata' Peralta (26-2-1, 14 KOs) defeated former world champion Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero, (33-5-1, 18 KOs) in a huge upset on Saturday  night.

Peralta, listed by some as a 70-1 underdog, boxed his way to a 12-round split decision victory in the main event of Premier Boxing Champion (PBC) on Spike Saturday night from the Honda Center in Anaheim. The scores were 116-112 and 115-113 for Peralta and 115-113 for Guerrero.

What makes the story so inspiring is that Peralta had not fought since of May of 2015 and was practically retired. He started working as a cab driver in Argentina and believed the sport was now behind him - until he got a call from promoter Sampson Lewkowicz with an opportunity to face a former world champion in the United States. The money and the opportunity was too good to pass up.

Peralta is now going step away from driving a cab and wants to place his full focus on boxing.

"I was driving a cab in Argentina. I was practically retired," Peralta said to BoxingScene.com. "Right now I'm very happy with my career. Before this fight I was a cab driver. I was a sad cab driver. Now I'm a happy boxer."

"I was not 100% prepared for this fight. I think I could have done more and I will do more in the future. Whatever my promoter tells me is next, is what I will do."

When scores were read, Peralta had no doubt who the winner was.

"I was calm. I knew that I fought a good fight and I knew that I was going to win. The only thing I didn't like is when I knocked him down and the referee didn't do anything. He's strong. I felt a few shots, but I did very well and showed my boxing ability."
