Luis Collazo: record, next fight and profile →
Unbeaten welterweights go toe-to-toe as Canada’s Cody Crowley meets two-time Venezuelan Olympian Gabriel Maestre for the Interim WBA Welterweight World Championship headlining FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes Saturday, August 7 from The Armory in Minneapolis.
Boxing legends, champions, top fighters and trainers gave their predictions for the FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View main event between unified welterweight champion Errol "The Truth" Spence Jr. and two-division champion Danny "Swift" Garcia ahead of their showdown this Saturday, December 5 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The fight as a whole hardly went as expected for Kudratillo Abdukakhorov, although the desired end result is ultimately what mattered most. The unbeaten welterweight contender prevailed by 10-round technical decision win over former titlist Luis Collazo in their ESPN-televised battle Friday evening in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Collazo (39-8, 20KOs) suffered a hellacious cut over his right eye after an accidental clash of heads which caused the early ending.
At the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Kudratillo Abdukakhorov (17-0, 9 KOs) maintained his status as the IBF No. 1 welterweight contender, scoring a unanimous technical decision (99-91, 98-92 and 97-93) over former world title challenger Luis Collazo (39-8, 20 KOs) after a cut opened up above Collazo's right eye in the 10th and final round.

PHILADELPHIA – There’s no telling what Luis Collazo could’ve done Friday night if he hadn’t suffered multiple cuts and a debilitating injury to his left arm. Collazo boxed Kudratillo Abdukakhorov essentially with one arm during the second half of a scheduled 10-round welterweight fight he lost by technical decision at Temple University’s Liacouras Center. An injury to his left arm prevented the 38-year-old former WBA welterweight champion from using it from the start of the sixth round until their bout came to an unusual conclusion in the 10th round.
Collazo, Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Artur Beterbiev made weight for one of the year’s most anticipated showdowns, a light heavyweight title unification bout and lineal championship heat which takes place Friday evening live on ESPN from the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A high-stakes welterweight co-feature will set the stage for the can’t-miss light heavyweight unification bout between IBF champion Artur Beterbiev and WBC champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk Friday, October 18 at the Liacouras Center.
Emanuel Navarrete is now the star attraction. The reigning super bantamweight titlist will headline the August 17 edition of Top Rank Boxing on ESPN as he faces unbeaten but unproven Francisco de Vaca. The bout was due to run in supporting capacity to a welterweight crossroads contest between Jose Benavidez Jr. and Luis Collazo, only for those plans to hit the scrap heap after Benavidez withdrew due to injury.
