Antonio ‘Tostado’ Garcia looks for his second upset in as many appearances on Telemundo in 2014, as the super flyweight contenders local favorite Daniel Lozano this Friday at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida.

The bout comes as part of promoter All-Star Boxing’s ongoing super flyweight tournament, which has highlighted the summer season of the ‘Boxeo Telemundo’ series. Both fighters came in under the divisional limit, each weighing 114 lb.

Both fighters enter Friday’s bout coming off of a loss.

Garcia (13-2, 6KOs) fell way short in his lone title fight to date, suffering a 4th round knockout at the hands of long-reigning champion Omar Narvaez this past May. The 20-year old boxer from Mexico earned the title fight following an upset win this past March over Jonathan Vidal, who came back strong with an 8th round stoppage of Juan Kantun two weeks ago in what ranks as the highest-rated fight in the 25-year history of boxing on Telemundo.

Lozano (11-1, 8KOs) suffered the first defeat of his career in his most recent bout, as he was stopped in eight rounds by Matthew Villanueva last October in Tampa. Friday’s bout marks his fourth straight appearance at the A La Carte.

The winner of Friday’s headliner is being groomed for a showdown with Vidal later this year in the fall season of Boxeo Telemundo. The last man standing will go on to a title shot at one of the super flyweight champions.

In the evening’s chief support, Andrey Klimov faces Guillermo Avila, a Telemundo regular who climbs way up the scales for a scheduled 10-roundr regional super featherweight title fight.

Both fighters weighed in at 130 lb.

Avila (12-2, 9KOs) came up short in a 12-round decision to Jonathan Oquendo this past March, in a bout that launched the 2014 season of Boxeo Telemundo.  The slot was originally intended as a rematch with Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., with whom Avila went tooth-and-nail in dropping a hotly disputed decision in their super bantamweight war last September.

Klimov (17-1, 8KOs) fights for the second time since the lone loss of his career, which came in a struggling effort versus Terence Crawford last October on HBO. Crawford, of course, has gone on to become a lightweight titlist, while Klimov rebounded with a points win over Francisco Contreras at home in Russia this past April.
