MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16KOs) wasted no time in retaining his world title with a two round drubbing of former sparring partner Manuel Roman (17-3-3, 6KOs). Most expected a quick fight, as Roman had no business being in there, but it ended faster than many had anticipated. After controlling the first round, Santa Cruz landed a cracking right hand that put Roman down for the count in the second.
