Kiko MartÃnez has been regaining some of the confidence lost after his stunning second round knockout defeat to Scott Quigg in July.

Former IBF super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (34-6) is looking for his third straight win since losing to Scott Quigg this past summer. The former champ will return on December 12 at the Palau de Vall D`Hebron in Barcelona. Martinez takes on Miguel Gonzales (13-4) from Honduras who comes in fresh off a points loss to Jono Carroll on the Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko undercard last Saturday night in Dusseldorf.

Spain’s Kiko Martínez (33-6, 25 KOs) bounced back from his disappointing loss to Scott Quigg with a first round knockout over Herald Molina, the Nicaraguan who was also stopped last year by Britain’s Kal Yafai. The bout was scheduled for eight rounds and took place in Valladolid. According to his promoter, Maravilla Box, Kiko is scheduled to fight again in three weeks time, again in Spain, in the Canary Islands, with a view to another run at a world title for 2016.

Despite suffering a devastating knockout loss to Scott Quigg recently, Kiko Martínez (32-6, 24 KOs) confirmed via Twitter that he will return to the ring on November 14, a bout which will take place in Spain.

Scott Quigg blasted Kiko Martinez away inside two rounds to better Carl Frampton’s result against the rugged Spaniard. The WBA super-bantamweight’s long-time rival Frampton had defeated Martinez twice but not with the ferocity that Quigg delivered. The 26-year-old initially did damage with a right uppercut that buckled Martinez’s knees, spelling the beginning of the end to the delight of a partisan crowd in Manchester. Sensing an early finish, Quigg unleashed a barrage of right and left hooks to bludgeon the tough ex-IBF champion.

Scott Quigg produced a stunning second round knockout win over Kiko Martinez in his WBA World Super Bantamweight title defence at the Manchester Arena. Martinez was the aggressor in the opening round but Quigg floored the former IBF king with a superb uppercut. The Spaniard got to his feet but Quigg swarmed all over him with a barrage of heavy shots that sent Martinez tumbling once more and although he beat the count, the fight was waved off.

Manchester Arena, Manchester - WBA 'regular' super bantamweight champion Scott Quigg (31-0-2, 23KOs) made a statement by stopping former IBF beltholder Kiko Martinez (32-6, 24KOs) in two rounds. Many will compare this win to Carl Frampton's two victories over Martinez. The first time Martinez was stopped in nine rounds in 2013. They had a rematch in 2014, with Martinez losing a twelve round unanimous decision.

The eight fighters involved in title action on Eddie Hearn’s “High Stakes” bill at the Manchester Arena all hit the scales and their weight targets during today’s weigh-in. Bury’s Scott Quigg (30-0-2, 22 early) came in at 8st 9lbs 12oz for his WBA World Super bantamweight defence against former IBF titlist Kiko Martinez (32-5, 24 KOs). Spain’s Martinez weighed 8st 9lbs 10oz for his latest title crack.

Scott Quigg says Kiko Martinez is the most dangerous opponent of his reign as WBA World Super Bantamweight champion as they clash for the title on Saturday (July 18) at the Manchester Arena live on Sky Sports – but says the challenger is not ready for the new and improved champion. Quigg swatted aside his first three challengers inside three rounds before Hidenori Otake took him the distance in Liverpool in November. The Bury star picked up a hand injury during that fight that forced him onto the sidelines.

Scott Quigg is ready to prove a point to his domestic rival Carl Frampton when he defends his WBA super-bantamweight title against Spaniard Kiko Martinez in Manchester on Saturday night. Quigg knows comparisons with the Belfast IBF champion are inevitable since Frampton beat Martinez in Belfast in 2013 and again last year. But Quigg, who has racked up an unbeaten 32-fight record and is desperate to take a big step towards unifying the world 8st 10lbs titles, insists he is relishing the extra pressure that brings.
