Spain’s Kiko Martínez (33-6, 25 KOs) bounced back from his disappointing loss to Scott Quigg with a first round knockout over Herald Molina, the Nicaraguan who was also stopped last year by Britain’s Kal Yafai. The bout was scheduled for eight rounds and took place in Valladolid.
According to his promoter, Maravilla Box, Kiko is scheduled to fight again in three weeks time, again in Spain, in the Canary Islands, with a view to another run at a world title for 2016.
The next contest is booked for November 14th at the Centro Insular de Deportes in Las Palmas, Islas Canarias.
Martinez has been trying to get back on track since losing a twelve round unanimous decision, and his IBF super bantamweight title, in last year's rematch with Carl Frampton.
He came back second round knockout win that December and returned against Quigg for the WBA "regular" in July. Martinez started strong, but got caught in the second round, where he went down twice before the referee called off the action.
