It was announced earlier tonight that the anticipated WBA welterweight title clash between champion Keith Thurman and former IBF king Shawn Porter, scheduled for March 12th at the Mohegan Sun, had been postponed as Thurman sustained an undisclosed injury related to an automobile accident.

The Porters who were in the process of moving their training camp just received the disappointing news.

"Right now Shawn and I are leaving the airport rent-a-car place, here. We're going up to Big Bear. We're in Ontario, we're pulling out of the place now. We haven't spoken to anybody," Kenny Porter, the father and trainer of Shawn, told BoxingScene.com.

Porter says he still plans to have his son spar tomorrow and added - ''I'm going to have to speak to Mr. (Al) Haymon and find out what happened and see what's going on."

When asked if he would like some verification of the injury, Porter answered,"Oh yes, I want some proof because this is....I mean, getting off a plan you turn on your phone and you expect to get a whole bunch of texts and calls because you've been on a plane but I didn't expect this. But I definitely need some proof."

Their wish is to be able to still fight on March 12th versus a suitable replacement.

"Let me get to work on that and see if we can keep the date,"said Porter on Monday evening.

Leading into this fight being signed, Porter had expressed some skepticism as to just how much Thurman really wanted this match-up. When asked if this recent development surprised him, Porter stated - "I always felt that Thurman was reluctant but once we went to the press conference and it was announced, I felt the energy and I felt like we had a fight. All was straight ahead and ready to go.

"So this is kind of shocking to me. I'm surprised."
