Jermain Taylor hopes he’s not the only former middleweight champion who can make a successful comeback.

According to WFMJ, former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik was arrested in Canfield, Ohio late Wednesday night after allegedly hitting a lamp post and telephone pole with a green ATV before driving home. Pavlik was arrested for driving under the influence, according to a police report.

One overlooked story during a busy boxing December took place ten days ago, when trainer Jack Loew appeared on a local radio station in Youngstown, Ohio and revealed the details of a bitter split with longtime fighter Kelly Pavlik. The former middleweight champion is reportedly leaving Youngstown and hooking up with popular trainer Robert Garcia in California.

After a delightfully—and surprisingly—explosive war broke out between unbeaten super middleweights Edwin Rodriguez and Will Rosinsky, the announcement of a 100-90 shutout across the board for Rodriguez didn’t sit too well with those who saw the fight, both at home on Showtime and live at the Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut.

BoxingScene.com has been advised by manager Cameron Dunkin that former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32KOs) will be working with sports and nutrition guru Victor Conte, as he works his way back after a long layoff.

BoxingScene caught up with Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (19-0, 14 KOs) and his manager Larry Army mere hours before his “ShoBox: The New Generation” headliner against Will Rosinsky (14-0, 8 KOs).

NEW YORK — Kelly Pavlik was expected to arrive in Manhattan on Thursday night for a meeting sometime Friday with his promoters at Top Rank Inc.

By the end of this month, manager Cameron Dunkin is hoping to get Kelly Pavlik's career back on track. The former middleweight champion, now at 168-pounds, will travel to New York City on October 22nd to meet with Top Rank.

Speaking with The Plain Dealer, trainer Jack Loew informed the paper that former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has not called him in several weeks. Pavlik was scheduled to return on August 6th in Youngstown for a fight Showtime televised fight with Darryl Cunningham. Pavlik was unhappy with his purse for the bout with Cunningam, but he was more upset with a guaranteed offer of $1.35 million for a clash with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute.

The question hung in the air like a firecracker. How will Kelly Pavlik be remembered? Cameron Dunkin, his former, present and future manager, took a second to mull that one over.
