Kell Brook Claims Free Agent Status, Exploring Options
By Terence Dooley
Kell Brook was a telephone guest on Barkery Jammeh's Main Event radio show on Monday, and the Sheffield-based stylist used the interview to reveal that his contract with promoter Frank Warren has expired. Brook says he is ready to speak to Warren and other promoters about his next career move. Brook fought 3 times last year, with wins over Krzysztof Bienias, Michael Jennings and Philip Kotey respectively, yet is frustrated over a lack of 2011 action, pointing out that he has nothing in the pipeline at the moment.
Brook stated that his current deal with Warren's promotional company has expired and that he is going to talk to promoters ahead of his next move, presumably with Warren his first port of call ahead of exploring other options. The 23-0 (16) boxer is currently ranked at number one by the WBO but has yet to hear anything concrete about a title shot, Manny Pacquiao is the current WBO 'super' champion, Mike Jones occupies second spot; the 24-year-old revealed that he is still waiting on news of an elimination fight against Jones.
'Ezekiel' is in a packed division, he defended his British welterweight belt four times and is the WBO Inter-Continental holder. Brook, though, looks a real prospect, he has that rare mix of boxing ability and power, he could make an impression on the world scene if the Jones fight comes to fruition.

A move to a US-based stable would be great for Brook. He'd benefit from the superior preparation out there, too, although I feel his collaboration with the Ingles also needs to be continued in his camps.Comment by Drunk Punch on 04-04-2011
Brook is the real deal, he should pack his things and move to the states right now. He's a promoter's dream, unbeaten, stylish, powerful he's got everything and he's hungry.Comment by KnockUTheFukOut on 04-04-2011
This dude has UNBELIEVABLE POTENTIAL and I think he can be a SUPERSTAR, but he has to get on HBO or Showtime and gain more exposure PLEASE DON'T SIGN WITH TOP RANK THOUGH! DiBella or Shaw would be better for…Comment by right hand jab on 04-04-2011
I wondered what had happened to Brook, hadn't heard from him in some time now. I hope he goes with either GBP or Top rank, he could land a lot of fights at welterweight if he went to Top rank.…Comment by Clegg on 04-04-2011
Join Hayemaker Promotions.
That would be a terrible decision. Hayemaker do not have a great track record. He should stick with Warren or go to the US and sign with someone like DiBella. GBP/Arum might be able to get him…Post a Comment - View More User Comments (6)
