Soto Karass is Confident of Chopping Keith Thurman Down

Mexico's Jesus Soto Karass is training very hard for his upcoming fight for the interim-welterweight crown of the World Boxing Association (WBA). Soto Karass will return on December 14 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas - when he faces undefeated fearsome puncher Keith "One Time" Thurman in a Showtime televised contest. Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18 KOs) is coming off two resounding victories in 2013, against top fighters Selcuk Aydin and Andre Berto. He believes he has what it takes to take the undefeated Thurman (21-0, 19 KOs) out.

Mexico's Jesus “Renuente” Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18 KO’s) is planning to go to war on December 14th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. He challenges unbeaten Keith “One Time” Thurman (21-0, 19 KO’s) for his interim WBA welterweight championship. The fight will be part of Showtime's televised quadrupleheader, with the main event featuring another welterweight battle between WBA full champion Adrien Broner and top contender Marcos Maidana. The winner of Thurman-Soto Karass will be in line to face the Broner-Maidana winner.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, and Showtime Sports VP Stephen Espinoza, have officially announced that Showtime's televised card on November 30th in Texas has been canceled and the fights have been shuffled off to Golden Boy's two December events, also televised on Showtime. Added to December 7th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Devon Alexander (26-1, 14KOs) will now defend his IBF welterweight title against Shawn Porter (22-0-1, 14KOs). The card is still headlined by a welterweight bout between Paulie Malignaggi (37-5, 7KOs) and Zab Judah (42-8, 29KOs). Also, Sakio Bika (32-5, 7KOs) will defend his WBC middleweight title against Anthony Dirrell (26-0, 22KOs), and Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12KOs) will face Austin Trout (26-1, 14KOs) for the vacant WBA junior middleweight title.

Schaefer Expects Non-Stop Danger on Broner-Maidana

The last time a pay-per-view event was tagged "Danger Zone" - Oscar De La Hoya was returning from a near two-year layoff and fought Ricardo Mayorga on Cinco De Mayo weekend in 2006 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. On December 14th, also at the MGM Grand, WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22KOs) will headline a Showtime pay-per-view event, making the first defense of his title against top challenger Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs). The loaded card, being staged by Golden Boy Promotions, is also being tagged as "Danger Zone."

Golden Boy Promotions have finalized the entire Showtime pay-per-view card for December 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. And the card is expected to have fireworks from top to bottom. In the main event, Adrien Broner (27-0, 22KOs) will make the first defense of his WBA welterweight title against Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs). Broner, a high ratings draw on Showtime and HBO, will get his first opportunity to headline a pay-per-view. In June, Broner moved up by two weight divisions to capture the WBA title with a close split decision over Paulie Malignaggi.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that Robert Guerrero (31-2, 18KOs) has turned down a proposed fight with undefeated WBA interim-welterweight champion Keith Thurman (21-0, 19KOs). Schaefer was hoping to make that fight for a date in November. However, one fighter who is very interested in facing Thurman is Jesus Soto Karass (28-8-3, 18KOs).

On Tuesday evening welterweight contender Jesus Soto Karass joined us on BoxingScene Radio to talk to us about his upset victory over Andre Berto. Prior to the fight, Soto Karass vowed that he would defeat the Haitian-American. He told us he was glad he kept his promise. "I said I was going to go in there and f*** him up. I said it on your show and thank God I did it. I am happy that I was able to keep my word," said Soto Karass who insisted he doesn't hold any hard feelings towards Berto. "We are all humans and at the end I respect him and I know he respects me." The Sinaloa, Mexico native said that he felt he was controlling the pace of the fight but he didn't want to be overconfident in the ring. He also admitted that he felt a sense of urgency after being knocked down in the 11th round.
