Chances are that a win would've only extended his career another couple of fights, but Humberto Savigne knew heading into his showdown with Thomas Williams that the end was near. It's been a short career for the 36-year old light heavyweight based out of South Florida, one that followed a lengthy amateur career in Cuba followed by a near 10-year break from boxing before resurfacing in 2009.

PITTSBURGH, PA. - Craig Baker knocked out Humberto Savigne in a stunning upset, finishing the heralded former Cuban amateur with a highlight-reel TKO at 1:58 of the second round. Savigne (12-2, 9 KOs, 1 NC), who had a huge size advantage and was the heavily favored fighter, landed a series of right hands in the first and looked like he could make it a quick night against the undefeated-yet-untested Baker. But the Texan fought like an opponent who had nothing to lose against Savigne, an experienced veteran with over 400 amateur bouts under his belt.
31-year old Light Heavyweight Craig Baker (16-0, 12 KO), 174, of Baytown, Texas, overcame a rocky first round to obliterate 36-year old Cuban Umberto Savigne (12-2, 9 KO), 176, of Miami, Florida, with a second round stoppage. Baker battered Savigne near the ropes before dropping him, Savigne struggling to his feet. Unable to steady himself, Savigne was saved by referee Ernie Sharif at 1:58 of the second.
