Herrera-Lundy 7/11 HBO Latino Bill Now A Tripleheader

Golden Boy Promotions continues to load up its July 11 show at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, topped by a coin-flip crossroads bout between hard luck junior welterweights Mauricio Herrera and Hank Lundy. What was originally targeted as a televised doubleheader on HBO Latino has now become a tripleheader. The opening bout of the telecast will feature unbeaten rising prospect Joseph 'Jo Jo' Diaz taking a major step up in class, facing Top 10 contender Rene Alvarado.

LOS ANGELES - After a standout performance on the May 9 Canelo-Kirkland undercard, former 2012 U.S. Olympian Joseph Diaz Jr. returns to the ring on July 11 in a 10-round featherweight on the undercard of Mauricio Herrera vs. Hank Lundy from the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. In the main event of the televised doubleheader Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera of Southern California takes on "Hammerin'" Hank Lundy in a 10-round bout for the vacant NABF Super Lightweight Championship. The co-main event, Michael "The Artist" Perez (22-1-2, 10 KOs) of Newark, New Jersey will take on Las Vegas transplant Sharif "The Lion" Bogere (27-1, 19 KOs) in an exciting 10-round lightweight match-up for the vacant NABO Lightweight Title, televised live on HBO Latino beginning at 11:00 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT).

The 10-round super lightweight bout from the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles will be televised live on HBO Latino beginning at 11:00 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT). Despite no official announcement as yet, it is understood that Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs) will fight Mauricio Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) on July 11 in an intriguing junior welterweight clash. Lundy was last seen this past December in which he dropped what most would consider a close decision to Thomas Dulorme despite having hurt the Puerto Rican on more than one occasion. Herrera is looking to rebound from yet another controversial loss, this time to José Benavidez Jr, a fight several observers scored for the California man. BoxingScene.com reached out to ‘Hammerin’ Hank to get his early thoughts on the important encounter.

Junior welterweight contender Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12KOs) announced on the social networks that a deal was finalized to face Mauricio Herrera (21-5, 7KOs) on July 11th at the LA Sports Arena and televised by HBO Latino. Lundy posted a copy of the signed contract, executed by both boxers. Last year, Herrera dropped disputed decisions to Danny Garcia and Jose Benavides, but also had a key decision win over Johan Perez. Lundy also looks to get back on the winning path, as he returns from a ten round split decision loss to Thomas Dulorme back in December.

Regardless of whatever is floating out there on social media, a fight between junior welterweights Mauricio Herrera and Hank Lundy has not been finalized. Eric Gomez, Vice President and matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions told BoxingScene.com on Monday morning - "It's not done, there have been some discussions but it's not done. We're still working on it." Herrera, had a tough luck 2014 with losing very disputed decisions to Danny Garcia and Jose Benavides, sandwiched around a victor over Johan Perez. Lundy is coming of a tough ten round split decision loss to Thomas Dulorme back in December. Herrera-Lundy looks to be an interesting pairing.

Sources have advised BoxingScene.com that Dierry Jean (27-1, 19KOs) of Montreal vs. Philadelphia's Henry "Hank" Lundy (25-4-1, 12KOs) is still being discussed for March 14th. This fight would be part of the HBO broadcast on March 14th from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada - that features the light heavyweight showdown between Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal and the heavyweight battle between Steve Cunningham and Vyachaslev Glazkov.

An interesting fight is being discussed for the undercard of Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal, taking place on March 14th from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. According to TVA Sports, there is talk of a fight between Dierry Jean (27-1, 19KOs) of Montreal and Philadelphia's Henry "Hank" Lundy (25-4-1, 12KOs). After losing to Lamont Peterson last January, Jean dropped down to lightweight to get knockout wins over Daniel Ruiz and Mario Perez.

On April 11, WBC/WBA super lightweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) collides with reigning IBF champion Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) at a catchweight of 143 in a non-title fight.
