Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, (35-0, 32KO’s), who holds the WBC, WBA, IBF and IBO middleweight world titles, sees no reason to move up to 168-pounds and purse opportunities in a new division.

Golovkin is training for his ring return against undefeated IBF welterweight world champion, “The Special One” Kell Brook, (36-0, 25 KO’s), on September 10 at The 02 in London, England.

Golovkin is running out of options at middleweight, which explains his decision to face a fighter who is moving up by two weight divisions.

In the last twelve months, Golovkin has been unable to secure middleweight fights with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, Chris Eubank Jr. and Billy Joe Saunders.

While there are not many options at 160, there are some fighters who are willing to face Golovkin at 168 - like WBC champion Badou Jack, IBF champion James DeGale, and WBO champion Gilberto Ramirez. The WBA title is still currently held by Felix Sturm, who at the middleweight level rejected fights with Golovkin for several years.

Golovkin wants big fights and doesn't see anything big on the horizon at super middleweight to bring him that big pay-per-view event. He also makes the weight. At the recent WBC 30-day weight check, Golovkin weighed in at 165 - only five pounds above the division limit.

"I want the big fights. I want the big names. Who is there at 168? Badou Jack? DeGale? Ramirez? To me these are regular fights, these are not big fights. I want the big fights. Why move up to 168?," Golovkin told BoxingScene.com.

"Move up to 168 for what, who is going to fight me there, which champion at that weight will agree to fight me for a big fight. Right now I make 160 easily so I’m comfortable here, look at me I’m regular size middleweight.”
