WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin disagrees with a lot of the critics. He says former champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) will not be an easy fight for Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26KOs).

There are ongoing discussions to finalize an opponent for Mayweather's scheduled return, on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Showtime Pay-Per-View will carry the fight.

Khan is one of the frontrunner opponents to challenge Mayweather for the WBC welterweight crown. Most critics view Khan as an easy opponent for Mayweather, but Golovkin thinks the fight will be difficult for both boxers.

"Amir Khan and Floyd is a great fight for everybody. Amir Khan is a good boxer with great speed. It is not an easy fight for him or for Floyd. It is great business [it is a marketable fight]. Floyd is number one in the world. Amir Khan has a lot of fans. This is a great fight for boxing, for sport, for business.  It's a very interesting to me too," Golovkin said.
