WBO super middleweight belt-holder, Gilberto Ramirez, defends his title this Saturday night at the Bank of America Center in Corpus Christi, Texas as the headliner on ESPN.
The tall southpaw from Mexico admits to not knowing much about his upcoming foe, Habib Ahmed.
But he has lofty ambitions moving forward - including facing some of the talent in the ongoing World Boxing Super Series tournament or a showdown with current WBC, WBA, IBO, IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs), who faces Canelo Alvarez on May 5.
"First, I want to win the fight February 3rd, then I want to fight with any champion. I would like to fight the winner of the (World Boxing Super Series)tournament or if 'Triple G' (Gennady Golovkin), if he wants to fight and move up to 168, of course I want to that fight,'' said Ramirez, who's English is steadily improving.
"I want to clean up the whole division and I want to keep all the belts and be the undisputed champion and I want to be a pound-for-pound fighter," continued Ramirez (36-0, 24 KO's).
On February 17th in Manchester, England, WBA titlist, George Groves takes on Chris Eubank Jr in one of the semi-final contests in the WBSS. While Callum Smith faces Jurgen Brahmer on February 24th in Germany in the other semi-final contest at 168.
And yes, Ramirez will be watching intently - "Of course, because I know coming soon that maybe they might be my opponent. But honestly, I don't care who wins, I want to fight with all these guys."
Despite being nearly 6'3, the 26-year old says he has no difficulty making the super middleweight limit.
"I don't have problems right now," he stated. "But in one year maybe if they don't give me the good fights that I want, I'll move to 175 because at 175 there is a lot of competition there and I'm really interested in fights with good fighters and be a pound-for-pound fighter."
