Gabriel Rosado: record, next fight and profile →
At 24 years old, undefeated Tijuana puncher Jaime Munguia is looking for the biggest fights possible. Munguia captured gold at 154-pounds, where he held the WBO world title. He moved up last year to the middleweight ranks - where he's motivated to capture another belt.
Super middleweight contender Gabe Rosado is expecting Tyson Fury to blast out Deontay Wilder in their upcoming trilogy fight on July 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
By Corey Erdman - Several times during his career, Gabriel Rosado has wondered out loud in the media why he hasn’t received the same opportunities as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. For the better part of a decade, the two have been in the same weight neighborhood, have vied for many of the same fights, and time after time, Chavez Jr. has received them and squandered his opportunity in one way or another while Rosado has received a significantly less desirable assignment and tried to make the best of it.
Jaime Munguia (37-0, 30 KOs) successfully defended his WBO Intercontinental middleweight championship with a technical knockout victory against late-replacement Kamil Szeremeta (21-2, 5 KOs) at The University of Texas at El Paso’s Don Haskins Center and live on DAZN. After receiving several rounds of punishment, Szeremeta’s corner called a stop to the fight after the sixth round.

A far more prominent plan was in place for Bektemir Melikuziev when the year began. Hopes of a breakthrough performance were dashed when former three-time light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev tested positive for a banned substance ahead of their eventually canceled January 30 crossroads bout at Fantasy Springs Casino in his adopted hometown of Indio, California. The unbeaten Uzbekistani southpaw—who won a Silver medal during the 2016 Rio Olympics—has instead seen his post-pandemic activity limited to a pair of stay-busy knockout wins.
