In recent days on social media, there have been some rumblings of a summer super middleweight clash between former WBC 160-pound world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and the always dangerous Gabe Rosado.
According to the former middleweight title challenger, there have been discussions taking place.
"We're pretty much down to getting a date from Showtime at this point, I think," Rosado said to BoxingScene.com.
Rosado added - "I think it's going to happen, Golden Boy's already given it the green light and we're just waiting on a date. That's what it's coming down to. I think it came down to me and (Aflredo) Angulo and Julio made it clear he wants to fight me and I already told his people that I could do '68 - 68's not a problem. So I think it's just down to Showtime giving this fight a date."
According to a source from Golden Boy Promotions, they have not received a firm offer for this match-up.
If it does happen, Chavez Jr-Rosado will take place in the summer most likely. Chavez Jr. recently parted ways with trainer Robert Garcia, who handled him for a few fights. The Mexican fighter has returned to the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood to resume his working relationship with Freddie Roach.
"Honestly, I really don't know if it's July or August. I think Chavez wants to fight in July. I know he started camp with Freddie. I'm already training with Fernando(Vargas) in Las Vegas,"said Rosado (22-9, 13 KO's), who last fought on December 19th where he out-pointed Joshua Clottey.
