Joe Calzaghe just can't catch a break...

I'm just pissed at these threads discrediting Calzaghe's performance with the way Lacy fought last night. I just think that regardless of Lacy's performance last night, Calzaghe was in a lose-lose situation...

Scenario 1: Had Lacy performed poorly last night(which was what really happened)

Comment: "Calzaghe ain't **** because Lacy was an overrated one-dimentional piece of crap anyway".

Scenario 2: Had Lacy KTFO Tsypko

Comment: "Lacy had a bad night in Manchester and he would KTFO Calzaghe had Lacy been 100% like he did tonight"

And now with all these "Why the **** is he fighting Manfredo" talk? Calzaghe wants Jermaine Taylor and Hopkins but they have other plans at the moment. Give the guy some respect.

    I am in 100% agreement.

I am of the opinion also, Joe Calzaghe can only fight what's there to fight, and he's consistantly defeated the top contenders in the super middleweight division for years now. You'd think once he claimed the RING title people would cut him a bit of slack.

I agree with a thread starter.
IT seems that Joe is becoming Britain's Wlad Klitschko.
People just dont wanna give him a break.
I am a Lacy fan, but here is what I gotta say Lacy looked like **** cause Blow made him look like ****.

Calzaghe can't catch a break? He caught a ****ing dream when he came in as the underdog against a guy who was never as good as people thought. He beat the **** out of Jeff Lacy and didn't have to risk much to get the fame, cuz Lacy is not as good as people thought.

What I'm saying is, rather than Calzaghe outclassing Lacy, Lacy's hype outclassed him, and lead to him being exposed against a better fighter.

Joe Calzaghe is good, it's Jeff Lacy who isn't good.
I guess it kind of hurts Calzaghe's cred considering Lacy was his best opponent.

Right, that's the point. His best opponent was against the Great American Hype.

agree...it seems that America, or just boxing in general, are looking for new stars, new stars that can fight and punch, so they hyped Lacy up just because he had some knockouts, but looked past his lack of boxing ability...I guess it has become acceptable that mediocre is Great now; this isn't just in boxing either.
