  • Comments Thread For: Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia: The Fight, Right Now

By Cliff Rold - WBA welterweight titlist Keith Thurman (27-0, 22 KO) is saying exactly what he should be saying. He's saying what's best for the sport and for the brand umbrella he fights for. Thurman, hot on the heels of his exciting title defense against Shawn Porter, is saying he wants to face WBC welterweight titlist Danny Garcia (32-0, 18 KO).

    Thurman bodies Garcia.

Everyone knows Garcia is this lingering hype job. He's like that pimple that won't go away, but when you pop him, tours over.

Thurman has more elements to his game, more power, and higher ring IQ.

    Thurman by KO in 7.

Gift vs Sometimes. Sounds like 36 minutes of staring at rush hour traffic hoping to see a crash.

I think you've got a strong point but I do have to admit that Garcia has proved me wrong a number of times. Notably in the way he was able to lure and catch Khan, and of course the Matthysse win. That said, we've all seen him look mediocre and I've consistently said that he's lost his counterpunching speed/timing since he's moved up. That's half his game right there. I think he's about to be harvested and Keith is the guy they always wanted to do it. Haymon has orchestrated this since the beginning and the crescendo is about to peak with these two fighting for #1 WW status.

No way does Garcia take this fight, ever.

It probably wouldn't be a PPV fight but it would definitely put butts in seats and eyes on screens. This fight makes a ton of sense right now.

This fights happening by the end of the year or 1/4 of 2017, they've been dropping hints the last 3 months

Somehow when it's announced lames will still find a reason to complain.
PBC/Showtime doesn't match their best against each other though.

Yup heard the same thing when he was going to fight Matthysse. Seriously Danny has proved he'll fight anyone.

It's not going to be on PPV and that the whole point of what the PBC is trying to do. If you listened to Thurmans postfight it's obvious when this fight happens it's going to be on Network TV

Why do you think that Garcia isn't fight better competition? He'll fight Berto, maybe Bundu, then get killed by Thurman in a crappy unification
