  • What/Who does Golovkin have to beat to become an ATG?

What do you, the people, think is fair?

Does he become an ATG if he beats Canelo at 155?

Does he have to beat Canelo at 155, Brook at 157, Jacobs, Lara, BJS, Eubank at 160.... And then DeGale, Ramirez, Jack, Dirrel Bros at 168. Ward and Kovalev at 175?

I want to hear from the people. Do you have low or high expectations for GGG to reach to become an ATG?

    What's the standard?

I hate the term All Time Great. Its such a f#cking bs term.

I think GGG is already one of the best guys of this era without a defining opponent on his resume. He's on P4P lists. He's 1 or 2 @ MW in most peoples rankings. I think to reach stardom he needs to fight Canelo or someone else on that level. I don't know who else is around since Ward moved up to fight Kovalev. Gilberto Ramirez isn't gonna enhance GGG's rep. I guess if Canelo doesn't fight him he could ran thru the Jacobs', BJS's & Andy Lee's & get his name bigger than it currently is. Beyond that he'd have to move up to 175 at this point & fight Kovalev or Ward probably.

He needs to beat two of Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders, all good fighters.
After that he needs to go up a weight and beat somebody like Degale, which would be a good achievement considering he is a pretty small middleweight. There isn't really a massive sort of 50/50 fight out there for him to define his career unfortunately, there was obviously Ward who i would have picked to win, but apart from that who else can he beat to cement his legacy?

In this era....he needs to do what Wlad dis, and he needs the logevity. This guy can hang with anyone, but to be a great you need to separate yourself. At 34 I'm not sure he has the time, but he Jas always had the potential.

Just enjoy his career and whatever he does. You do not have to label his resume anything if you don't want to. He's not yet even close to HOF, and it's very easy to get in, so forget ATG. If he retires undefeated he can get in the HOF even with a weak resume. The media and journalists love him so they'll get him in even if his only good win ends up being only Canelo.

From the eye test, he has all the tools needed to do great things in boxing.

Has the jab, body work, agility, ability to cut the ring and needless to say power.

He's so far racked up the defenses and he's done so in impressive fashion by blowing through all of them. Not one world title fight he's been has gone the distance. It doesn't matter if your competition isn't A level in order for 15 title fights won by knockout to be impressive. It shows power and great ability to finish which is awesome.

The opponents he needs are Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, Lara, Brook, Khan, any name and A level opponent he can get. Their weight demands are ridiculous. He may have to meet them to get the fights which is sad. No middleweight champion should have to fight at any weight other than 160. But he might just have to if he wants those guys in the ring with him.

I will say that after Wade, he should break his arse to get any of them in the ring for his next fight. Go out and get them at all costs. He's good enough to beat any of them. That part is no problem. Just get them in the ring and tear them apart. As a Golovkin fan, I'm ready to watch him work against the best and if he's just been hype, I'd love to find that out, too. However I doubt that is the case.

Canelo will do him nothing. He should have moved up and fought Ward, before Ward left 168. Now there is no body. He practically has to move up to light heavyweight and beat Ward and that Russian dude, before he's considered an ATG, IMO.

Already ATG anyways according to Abel. But to be honest maybe get 15 straight KO defenses
