Genuine feeling amongst bookmakers that povetkin will put up a good fight vs Wlad?

Having monitored the odds for Klitschko vs Povetkin (as I do with most fights) , I find it absolutely staggering that some bookies are giving odds as good as -275 on wladimir Klitschko just to win the fight, and that alexander povetkin has shortened from being a +600 to a +350 and with some bookies even +280!

In the fractional version of odds that means wladimir klitschko started out as around a 1/6 absolute certain winner with the bookies, right down to 4/11 with some bookmakers. Now obviously this would usually be given as a sign that a lot of money is going on the klitschko challenger as a lot of casual punters usually like to bet on big money underdogs hoping that they can collect a big pay day, but on examining a graph on oddschecker it seems as though 50.5% of money staked has gone on Wladimir Klitschko , with only 43.54% going on Alexander Povetkin (the remaining % being bet on a draw), this begs the question what do the bookies see in Alexander Povetkin? Are their some crooked judges being used tonight out in Russia ( nothing against russia just trying to figure out why on earth such a dramatic shift in odds have occured).

If someone had of said to me this fight 2-3 weeks ago i would of put everything i owned (not literally) on the fact that Wladimir Klitschko will win this fight at ease, but having seen the dramatic shift in odds and willingness of the bookies to take bets on wladimir klitschko at much better odds than usual I am starting to consider whether something fishy is going on. as an example , and i know these 2 fighters are completely different fighters etc, but mariusz wach was started out as a 30/1 underdog to beat wladimir klitschko and on fight week even when money piled on this man bookies still were confident to take bets on him at around 25/1 , with povetkin not that much money has even gone on him and bookies seem so timid to take bets on him!

What is going on in your eyes here? am i overthinking?

The Russians are lumping on Povetkin, that is why.

Go on Oddschecker & check the chart; A LOT have bet on Povetkin thus narrowing the odds

The yellow here is klitschko http://gyazo.com/59d7a238c4f7589cc3f8302c99e1519e , more money on klitschko than povetkin by a fair % yet klitschkos odds have widened instead of shortening, which doesn't add up.

Sorry just read properly and you'd already mentioned you had.

At a guess because the odds have narrowed offering a good return on Klitschko people have bet on him and that is why it isn't so wide.
According to oddschecker around 45% have bet on Povetkin. Could be wrong but pretty sure it was at 50 odd earlier

I just find it bizarre that the bookies are allowing people 4/11 on klitschko to win especially knowing that some big betters will be backing him to the hills at them prices, at them odds they are basically saying they expect klitschko to win but are not confident and therefore happy to take bets on klitschko and good prices.

I think Povetkin might have a bit better chance than a lot of us are predicting due to Wladimirs dominance but yeah they're taking a risk here with what probably is quite close to a dead cert.

I think I may have leaped to soon & if the odds shorten anymore I am going to be very tempted to lump more on a Wlad stoppage.

Its HW boxing though & Povetkin is a good fighter.

For me wladimir klitschko on Points at 35/9 (near 4/1 ) is an absolutely fantastic bet, especially when you factor in that I believe Wladimir Klitschko respects Alexander povetkin on the same sort of level that he respected Haye's fighting skills and therefore I believe he will be cautious, maybe if you take Klitschko rounds 7-12 and also Klitschko on points I think you wont go far wrong (thats prob what il be backing anyway). The only way you can go wrong is if the judges screw wlad (which i think is possible but am not sure at this point).

Thank you!!! I jump on my account to check the odds out and I see Wlad only -400 and Povet +325. I'm a little shocked, so I do a little research. You might have a point that something crooked will happen. Why is Wlad fighting this guy in his hometown? Wlads the champ not Povetkin. I've never seen Vlad this low except for when he fought Haye I think it was -220.

Idk man $h!T seems a little weird.

Povetkin has just come in from +325 to +275 with the bookies I use (bet365), to put it in perspective David Haye with the same bookies was +200, I am starting to whole heartedly believe that if Alexander Povetkin makes it out of this fight then the decision is going to be a split decision for Povetkin, Povetkin is shortening further yet there isn't money coming in on him to any big degree which tends to make me believe that bookies are reacting to something else which could be insider knowledge, does anyone know the judges for tonight?

Also Klitschko is now as wide as -250 with some bookies, absolutely unbelievable scenes! this fight is worth tuning into just for the decision lol. EVEN MORE STAGGERINGLY Povetkin by decision has shortened from +750 earlier this week to today being +400, note that Wlad by decision is only +350 as well, the fact that they have wlad as only marginal favorite if it goes the distance is absolutely unbelievable!
