Floyd's PPV failing would be the best thing for boxing right now!

WHY?................Because it almost guarantees that he fights Canelo in Sept! Floyd's already rich so I can give a **** behind if he makes 30-40 more million. I'm a fan and all I care about is watching high profile quality fights and so should every single boxing fan.

If his upcoming ppv against Guerrero falls far short of 1mil buys, he would be pressured by the network to face someone like Canelo. Does anybody here really want to see him in the ring with someone like Alexander? I sure as hell dont. Despite Pac's recent KO loss, Floyd/Pac is still the biggest money fight that can be made in boxing. Canelo is extremely popular amongst Mexican fans but he's not a worldwide boxing icon or star the way Floyd and Pac are. I would be happy watching Floyd forced into a Canelo fight in Sept followed up by a Pac fight early next year as long as Pac looks good and has an impressive win in his next fight.

For those who say that I'm a hater, how is wanting to see Floyd in a high profile challenging fight hating?

How is it hate? If he were to do 1mil+ fighting the likes of Guerrero, there would be no reason for him to ever face a guy like Canelo. He would continue to fight B level competition for the remainder of his Showtime contract. How is this a good thing for boxing fans?

I think it will benefit us boxing fans if Mayweather PPV flops. Floyd really thinks he is such a huge megastar that us boxing fans don't care who he fights that we will be paying $70 for his easy work fights. This fight should be on HBO for free straight up

This is the problem with so-called fans like yourself. You worry more about Floyd's bank account rather than watching him face top notch quality opposition who will give him a run for his money.

So, fans abandoning Mayweather (and boxing in general) this weekend will be good for boxing? No. Way too hardcore and narrow of a view, IMO.
Look at the bigger picture. If May comes up short, it's a sign of bad things. It's not because people are clamoring for Canelo. It's either because the Showtime deal is a dud, or because May is losing his drawing power. Might be good for people who want to see him "forced" into a Canelo fight (your words) but the biggest draw in boxing coming up short is certainly not good for boxing.

It'll be so funny if during the post fight interview, Floyd says "to the red headed, freckled face Mexican your ass is next in line"
