  • Sauerland to offer record sum for supersix winner.

In an interview with danish tabloid ekstrabladet.dk, Mikkel Kessler's promotor Kalle Sauerland says that he will approach the winner with the biggest offer ever for a supermiddleweight titlefight.

The offer will be for a fight against Mikkel Kessler in Copenhagen and provides that Kessler beats WBO champion Robert Stieglitz in March or April 2012. A fight with the supersix winner will unify 3 of the four major belts namely WBA, WBC and WBO.

"We'd love to make this fight in Parken, Copenhagen. We won't have to spend a single euro in promotion. Every single seat in the arena will sell itself given the magnitude of the fight", Sauerland says.

The previous record for purses at the weight was for the unification fight between Joe Calzaghe and Mikkel Kessler at Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, where both fighters allegedly received 5 million dollars.

Nice! But the biggest fight in that division is the super 6 winner against Bute. One of my dream fights is a unification bout of Ward vs Bute for all the titles and the lineal SMW championship.

They know that the judges rob fighters over there. Ask Carl Froch.

I don't know if a Bute vs. s6 winner is bigger than Kessler vs. s6 winner. I reckon those fights are pretty close.

it's cool how everyone wants an instant shot at the super six winner when they themselves dropped out of the tournament or haven't faced anyone else in the tournament to earn a shot. It's like the tournament never happened at all.

Lot of good fights to be made at SMW. Cant blame the winner for taking the Kessler fight considering its higher profile and a great payday, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see the winner vs Bute first. I expect Ward to win. Of he does and then fights Kessler, a Bute-Froch fight would be a great match to see in the meantime.

Sounds like a set up! If Ward wins though he should take the fight and beat the brakes off Kessler soundly...it would also shut up the whole "Ward needs to fight in Oakland to win" talk. Then unify by beating Bute.

It would give Ward a chance to win fair and square, because he'd never get away with the foul play outside jOakland. It would also give Kessler a chance for some sweet revenge.
