Floyd would have dominated 1981 Hearns that fought SRL

Keep in mind im not talking about 1984 Hearns at 154 when he was at his peak and strongest. Im talking about the weight drained Hearns that fought SRL on September 16 1981 at 144 pounds.

I think Hearns comes out strong and maybe lands the right hand with a graze, not square on the chin because of Floyds defense. I also think because of Tommy's reputation Floyd would use the same defensive style he used on Mosley after round 2 and that's keep both hands up and bring the fight to Tommy blocking his shots and slowly breaking Hearns down round by round. Floyd surprisingly would be the stronger fighter being he is 5-7 146, 147 to Hearns 6-1 144 pounds. Hearns would be strong early but the Hearns that fought SRL was weight drained and had some conditioning issues.

Once Floyd figures out that right hand it would be 10 straight rounds of coming forward, blocking and breaking Tommy down to a unanimous decision.

Dude. If Hearns landed on that chin it's lights out.

Hearns was a wiry freak that was exceptional fast. He was chinny himself but was also very tall...

After watching Mayweather get rocked badly for alot of Round 2 I've got Hearns by KO.

That's not diss on Mayweather though, he started at 130 and Hearns was a massive 147.

man don't take this win too far those guys back then are just different animals, we really shouldn't compare fighters who fought in different eras.

Of course it would be the same, since Mosley's tapping jab is clearly comparable to Hearns', who had one of the best jabs ever with insane reach

Not a good comparison...Floyd could beat Hearns but if he ate one of them right hands he wudda found himself on the canvas IMO...

Lotta different ways a fight would go...would Hearns be the aggressor...would Floyd stick and move...who knows...a prime Hearns is deadly tho...

Floyd wouldnt have dropped his left hand early against Tommy. He would have fought the way he did round 3 thru 12 from the 1st round out of respect for Hearns power in the right hand. Once Floyd kept both hands up Shane didnt land one more right hand. Fight was over.

Floyd had not much respect for Shane and got caught. He walked him down like he was fighting a sparring partner

If there's one fighter since the 80's that I'd pick over Floyd without hesitation it's Tommy. Hearns could box and brawl and use his attributes to his advantage. He nearly went the distance with Ray despite his chinny rep.

um hearns was outboxing SRL for the first half of the fight. Even SRL didnt dominate him from start to finish

SRL had to pull out all of the stops to put Hearns away and that was after the 12th round... dont forget that if Hearns just made it to the final bell he had the fight in the bag. SRL is a lot bigger puncher than PBF

I think Floyd's a more complete fighter than SRL. Not just speed and flashy combinations. Floyd is a more complete technical fighter and would not have gotten nailed by Hearns as much as Ray did because of his defense. Floyd can fight Hearns close range and still not get hit. Keep both hands up high, block and just tapping Hearns with body shots, straight right hands. Slowly break him down without getting careless
