You would think with all the media attention The All Star Game is getting since its happening in Dallas that they would take advantage, but no. I listen to the radio a lot and since I've been here in the Dallas area, haven't heard **** about the fight on the stations.
No commercials, no ticket give a aways. Who knows, maybe they're waiting till after the All Star game, but still, I'm not seeing much buzz from the fight and it has little to do with Clottey being an unknown opponent and much to do with Top Rank's outdated marketing "strategies". There are SO many mediums for mass communication now a days and Top Rank takes advantage of none.
Top Rank needs to get with the times and realize the potential of digital, viral, and creative marketing. **** isn't like the 20's or 50's or early 90's anymore, Bob. People access the internet from their ****ing watches now you old bastard. GBP doesnt get big PPV buys by just resorting to random press conferences and making rare appearances on talk shows.
If there is anything that can sum up Top Rank's marketing "machine", its this right here.
