  • Pick a city (any country) and name its 3 best fighters all time

Pick a city and name its all time 3 best fighters. I suspect this thread may cause some debate when it gets to certain cities like Brooklyn, L.A., Detroit, and others.

    I'll start with Pittsburgh.

    1. Harry Greb
    2. Billy Conn
    3. Charley Burley

No doubt in my mind Greb is the greatest fighter this city ever produced, but I am really up in the air about Conn and Burley. I rate both very high all time and give a slight edge to Conn based on my opinion he would win a close head to head fight at their respective best.

Feel free to debate this and name some cities and fighters of your own.

I was thinking about this one earlier. I know Ray was raised in Detroit, but I think Harlem would claim him as their fighter. You're from Harlem, whats your opinion?

              Northern Ireland:
Barry "Clones Cyclone" McGuigan (Born just accross the border in the south, but fought for N.Ireland in the Commonwealth games so I'm counting him!) WBA FW champ
Wayne "Pocket Rocket" McCullough - WBC BW champ
Dave "Boy" McAuley - IBF Flyweight champ

Not exactly a murderers row of fighters here in Northern Ireland, but the 3 of those would put up a tough fight.

Great question. many Harlemites claim Ray as their own, and he did move to Harlem with his mother at the age of 12, so I'm on the fence as to whether or not to claim Sugar Ray. He owned several businesses in Harlem in the 1950's, and was considered the king of Harlem. If anyone wants to claim him as a New Yorker, I have no problems with that.
