  • Super Middleweight was/is a safehouse wasteland designed to favor the lacking.

    Yep.

This division was established to give lesser Boxing countries/regions a chance at having a champion....

because the most skilled fighters and strongest competition always made/will make their home at either Middle or Light Heavy....

If you don't know the history of Super Middle or its champions, look it up....it officially came into existence in 1984....the educated, objective fans will see I'm just tellin' it like it is....

You can say Benn, Eubank, Watson, Collins, Calzaghe or whoever all you want....they had their moments.....but when it's all said and done....it don't matter...they weren't the best of the best....why?

because they chose to fight at 168.

That reminds me...I remember shaking my head again at an old Ray Leonard when I heard he wanted to snatch the title from the great Canadian champion, Donny LaLonde...lol

That was so shameless of him...par for the course though....I NEVER liked that fake b*stard.

Some good fighters have passed thru there, but they never stick around cuz there just ain't big $ there. It has always been dominated by Europeans.

SMW is one of the best divisions around at the minute, in fact even since its conception it has bought about as much excitement as some other more glamourous and historically well known weight divisions.

SMW has had some great fights and great fighters like benn, eubank, collins, watson, calzaghe, kessler.

who has middlweight had recently? the likes of hopkins, taylor, pavlik, winky after that im struggling.

The division wasnt created for European fighters but to cover some of the gap from 160 to 175, it was actually started inside the states but wasnt recognized at first but sanctioning bodies didnt disagree with it because more divisions mean more money for them.

Yeah...they passed through alright...as if it were a small village with no signs, lights, or police....lol

The kind of town that doesn't really occur to anyone...a kind of town that is most appealing to the unconfident or cowardly...

but it ended up being filled with and dominated by Europeans....

and that's what I'm sayin'...WE created this division to give the lesser Boxing countries a chance at having a champion....

I think it was a pretty generous gesture on our behalf...

I agree with this. And generally the WBO has helped out in the process allowing their titles to be taken hostage by mostly german fighters over the years, slowly piling up title defenses against second rate fighters and collecting some nice coin.

Are you saying Bootay, Andrade, and Kessler are the cream of the crop of Boxing?...lol

and don't get upset now...no need to call me a moron...I'm not a Calzaghe lover.....I like the Klitschkos, in fact....and Abraham...and Darchinyan...a fighter doesn't HAVE to be from America for ME to like them...

How can something be created for another country when it started here, doesnt make any sense. It was because a few states recognized it as Junior Light Heavyweight at first and then it caught on, it started in the states, there is 15 pounds in between middle and light heavy.
