Default Help me here! Huge Potential!!!!

Thanks for checking this out, right I want too get into boxing I'm 23 years old at present and starting to get back into shape. Back in my prime days at boarding school when I was going to the gym daily my weight was and still is 75KG (which makes me a middleweight). I could bench press 110kg and used to spar with and child hood friend who won gold at the south pacific games (we weren't trained, conditioned, toned, experienced whatever you want too call it, this was when we were 16 and had no real ambitions of boxing) I do believe without any biased at all I have extremely quick reflexes and am quick at thinking on the spot also I'm down on what diet I should be eating (High protein for leaness, complex carbs for muscle development) which I started today. Been running the last couple of days doing stomach crunches and press ups and will be buying a boxing bag later on this week too practice. I'm also a commercial and editorial model signed with the biggest Australian Agency (check out my polaroids so you can see what I look like and how well I'm built) I put down most of my natural strength and tonedness down to growing up in Fiji and doing laborous jobs and eating local food (taro, yams, lean beef, and greenest vegetables you've ever seen!) What sort of specific training should I be doing? What muscle groups? from what I've read endurance and explosive reactive development but any tips from you guys? Where I'm at the moment is had a boxing club which I went and saw today but was closed. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

NB: I'm 6ft and abnormally light at 75kg.

hey mate, go to

www.rossboxing.com

Got some training advice on there. Go for 30 minute runs in the morning and if u plan to compete u have to incorprate sprints in with that. umm do lots of shadow work focusing on technique 4 X 3 mins on bag

Round 1: Jab and movement (good footwork)
Round 2: jab, rightcross and footwork
Round 3:Start putting your combinations together with your footwork
Round 4: Combo's

Hope this helps a little bit mate and keep training

Sensible reply: sounds like you're fit, all you need is the technique which you will only get from a trainer at a boxing gym

Smart ass reply: you are a wanker man and are more concerned about your looks than being good at something. if you're gonna box, be prepared for that face to get knocked around a bit, and realise that a few nice photos won't even get you through the first two minutes.

Cryptic smart ass reply: You eat taro? I love taro!

Thanks for the advice firstly: I would't go to a gym cos they dont specialise in boxing. Second I couldn't give a **** about my looks I know damn well that my face is probably going to be smashed in at same stage reason I brought it up was to get the attention of any major players here in Aus who see the potential of a good looking sportsman and their commission that goes with it, diff btwn being a pro model and a pro boxer is about hmm id say atleast $100,000,000, I make a tidy income at the moment, just waiting on my US visa requirements before making bigger money but like I said I have boxing potential so please don't comment on my so called vanity. I don't talk it up or show it off at all. I'm no player been with my current g/f for 8 years.

1. sorry... if a boxing gym doesn't specialise in boxing what does it specialise in? seriously, i'm interested to know.

2. i have no problem with self marketing, but you might want some skills first (check out a boxing gym, that's a great place to learn) and honestly, this forum probably isn't the best place to start. A boxing gym might be though.

wellbalanced you dont know what potential you have until you get to a gym and learn some skill first. It doesnt matter how fit you are at this stage or how much you can bench press cos they wont help you when your sparring and someone is trying to take your head off. Defensive skills will help. Best thing to do is go to a boxing gym that specialises in boxing and learn technique and boxing skill first.

Ya try out ross boxing alot of goof stuff, but before you start shadow boxing or beating up a bag, for 2 straight weeks, maybe even 3 practice jab ONLY. Check out youtube for jab instruction videos, I know it sounds really boring but you need to perfect the basics

Sorry my bad see definition of a Gym where we live is a building full of exercise equipment, that's why I was confused. Boxing club, yes that's where I'll be headed in my free time. Thanks Markeeta. And Towelie Ross is awesome I'm going over that in detail later on today!

Cheers Guys.
