These Haymon fanatics don't even want to address the mismatches uncle Al keeps making. I've cited Lara's last 3 fights against bums which earned him just less than $3 million. For what? For effing nothing. Same Lara who can't draw flies. There was Andrade who literally stalked him like he's a movie star. Fight never happened. There were also Williams and the Charlo brothers.

Keep on burning money uncle Haymon.
Do you bring up HBO's string of mismatches?

The financiers backing PBC are laying off 10% of their people. THAT shows you things aren't going as predicted.

The financiers laying off people has absolutely nothing to do with the PBC. They're not laying off their workers because an immaterial investment of their's isn't panning out so far.

When they cite it in a lawsuit mentioning PBC as being possibly criminal, I would say the implication is there.

Haymon fanboys would rather bash HBO rather than help straighten the mess. It's like your house is on fire and you say, "his house is burning too, no problem."
Exactly. You tell these fanatics, "Your house is burning!" They'll say, "Your house is burning, too! Why should I care?!"

What a moronic way of addressing the issues.

Keep on burning someone else's money uncle Al.

Yeah the investors are upset at the hedge fund making risky investments which may have been made from collusion. They're not laying off employees because of it though. They're laying off employees because the fund itself is losing a lot of its value. That has more to do with the economy itself, falling oil prices, etc.

If a CPA was auditing Waddell and Reed and found out that the PBC was fraudulent, they would mark it as a red flag and internal control risk, but they would still issue a clean opinion over the overall financial statements since the amount invested into the PBC is immaterial.

Maybe they find it hypocritical for somebody to laugh at somebody else's house burning down while they are living in a scorching glass house themself

And **** man maybe they actually decide to invest more like they used to if the trajectory of boxing changes. I just don't think I'd place my bet on that with how things look for boxing.

And this $925M lawsuit news is interesting along the lines of what exactly is PBC's bankroll, but who knows how legit it is. For all the people from boxing who've looked into this no one has brought up $925M til these upset investors trying to get their money back did.

If it is correct then it would seem like PBC's recent moves aren't outta desperation so much as they are a Plan B after Plan A was poorly executed or just a ****ty plan that didn't work as they had expected & a lot of money was put into PBC's infrastructure.
HBO is no sympathetic figure. As a matter of fact, the current state of the 'business of boxing' can be placed dayum near directly at their feet. The PPV model, the network exclusive fighter/promoter deals, the fights not happening due to HBO not getting the biggest slice nor having a date available: all on them.

HBO, for YEARS, has used its money, muscle, and prestige to leverage fighters promoters/managers, sanctioning bodies, etc to do their bidding as far as what is in the best interest of HBO, NOT the sport itself.

They have formed cabals with select promoters to freeze out non-HBO affiliated fighters/promoters from venues/TV dates until those dissenters/competitors fell under their thumb. They've used their broadcast (open antagonistic commentary or cheerleading from Merchant/Lampley) and airwaves (the Fight Game; those trash 'King' and 'Tyson' movies) to further disparate anything non-HBO.

So, respectfully, FUGG HBO. They created this current environment that made the NEED for a PBC to rise up by banishing fighters affiliated with non-HBO arse kissing managers/promoters.

They are reaping what they have sewn.

Just admit uncle Al can do no wrong doe. Keep on pretending scumbag Arum/HBO were never criticized by everybody for making useless fights like the Pac/Bradley trilogy, Crawford getting paid large amounts of money fighting cab drivers... Have you heard any news about HBO getting sued by shareholders?

When a venture is being funded by a bank or large investor, not all of the money is given out at once. The borrower submits a requisition to the bank which shows what expenses they have incurred and then it gets approved and funded. In projects I have worked on, this happens either on a monthly basis or sometimes on an as needed basis...But $900 Million isn't just given away with no detailed backup.

So obviously Waddell & Reed has been extremely irresponsible. They should have been checking and scrutinizing everything, as most investment companies/banks do.

"Oh, you are paying this Lara guy $1 Million for a horrible matchup that nobody cares about? No, sorry, we can't fund that one"

^^^^^ These are the type of conversations that didn't seem to take place in the first year of the PBC.

And they took away FNF, which was the only place to watch un-biased fights.
Did you actually ever watch Friday Night Fights? People romanticize things, since it's no longer around, but most of the matchups never moved beyond promising prospect versus pug. Chris Algieri vs Emmanuel Taylor was a big fight for ESPN2, in case you forgot.

The Garcia-Guerrero fight card was a good night of fights, the Spence-Algieri fight card was a good night of fights, and the schedule is starting to ramp up, with the Ortiz-Berto fight card this Saturday, and the Thurman-Porter fight card at the end of June (limited things to the absolutely unquestionable fights).
