  • Biggest hype job in recent memory: Lacy or Broner?

-Lacy was the very definition of a hype job & a schooling waiting to happen, he was touted as the SMW Tyson but was publicly humiliated & ruined & subsequently went onto do nothing.. Last seen getting whopped by unknown Cubans!

-Broner was supposedly the heir apparent to FMJ & the next p4p superstar yet the writing was on the wall long before the brutalising loss to Maidana.. Two of his better wins up until this point (Deleon & Malinaggi) were both questionable decisions & he has since found his level struggling with the likes of Taylor!

These two are probably THE two standout US hype jobs of recent years who's fall from grace was so dramatic & so laughably obvious long before the expose' happened for anyone with an ounce of boxing knowledge!

Every nation has it's fair share of them but Tyson & Floyd?! Come on now...

    Who was more overhyped?

    Defintely Lacy.

He's one of the worst "potential future stars" in the history of the sport.

    Probably is the worst.

Shot to **** Roy Jones battered him in one of the most embarrassing fights I've ever seen.

Jeff Lacy. Funny how HBO gave him full backing vs Calazaghe like they did with Crawford vs Burns. Went into the bout as a betting favourite as well. Broner at least was a 3 weight world champ and is young enough to right his wrongs.

I think Berto is a bigger hype job than Broner.

But Berto is still way better than Lacy.

To be fair to lacy Broner career is not over, he might go the Victor Ortiz route and get stopped back to back and become irrelevant,.

is this serious? Lacy and it's not even close.

Broner, no matter how you spin it, has a chance to win a title in his 4th weight class this year. Doesn't mean he's an atg or anything but he lost to maidana who gave Floyd fits.

Calling Broner (wether he does it or not) a 4 weight champion makes a mockery of the sport today. Just shows careful management, cherry picking & & the endless amount of trinket titles available! The guy couldn't beat Malinaggi decisively & was owned so badly by B level Maidana it was laughable! He's beaten NO ONE & hasn't established himself @ any weight!

What a car crash that we could be talking about this guy in the same sentences as ATG 4 weight champion Morales!

                  Gary Russell Jr.

This guy was being hyped up then gets completely outboxed by a guy with 1 pro fight. LOL.

Dude, you can't just minimize only Broner. He isn't the only boxer who titles from promotional hookups.

I'm not saying he's Morales, but just like he lost to maidana, Morales got destroyed by zahir raheem.
