without a proper eye watching you and proper sparring sharpening you up I would say this to you:

a baby seal once ventured from the comfort and knowledge of his mother. As the baby seal swam futher and further away he could not understand why his mother had never wanted him to go into the darkness of the water without her. As he swam he began feeling a sense of indidualism, of radical unknown dreams as he passed other fish who looked nothing like his mother at all.

The baby seal saw a big mean fish swimming towards him. He didn't know what the fish wanted but the baby seal felt uncomfortable. He then remembered how his mother always told him to stay away from the dark water, looking up he saw the illuminated water and figured that he would swim towards that area. He was feeling independence for the first time as any other big seal would, a smile crossed his jovial face as he heard something. Just then, a giant boat sped past with it's rudder slicing wickedly, time and time again deep into the baby seals flesh.

In an instant the baby seals adventure was cut short. It looked the same for his life asell as he floated to the top of the water. As he gasps in pain he watches the his short life flash before his eyes.

The baby seal swares that hears a whistle and then a bell as he floats in the blood filled waters. Enter the sharks

Agan without a proper eye and proper sparring you could very well have an unfavorable experience for those 6 minutteor less. But then again you might be the next Bobby Crabtree............. Rockin'

That's like saying I want to be an international movie star but I live in Alaska. You might need to make a change or two if you really want to do it. Can't compete seriously without at least a decent gym with good people to show you the craft.

Best bet would be an MMA gym or an open trainer for Thai boxing who can at least give you some advice and get you some sparring.

Back in culiacan, we used to have this kid whod come with his dad on business for a month or two at a time and because his dad was a close friend of one of the adults there we'd give him some sparring (hands only of course and the older bigger guys would clinch with him) but he loved working on his hands with us since he was still learning from different perspectives. He'd train there on the regular. Rockin' makes a good point though. There's no guarantee!

There's no substitute for good sparring. It's like they say.. To become a better fighter you have to fight and sparring is a simulation.

MMa gyms will likely have a boxing coach and he'd be happy to take in a new pupil ($$$) and youd have MMA guys to spar with when they work on their hands.

If that's unavailable, try what Ray said and look up any retired boxers .

You could also contact some fitness gyms and see if anyone has any boxing experience (youd be surprised who used to box!)

If all else fails I guess there's martial arts but most dont "really" spar..

Maybe there's an MMA/thai boxing gym closer than 2 hours where you could commute to at least 3 times a week?
