  • More Zuffa corruption - Bans another sponsor it see's as a rival

One of the brands that won't be found on Zuffa's list of approved sponsors is the GOOD4U sports drink.

According to the beverage, it was informed Tuesday morning by Lorenzo Fertitta and the UFC that the brand will no longer be welcome in the UFC and WEC, beginning with this Saturday's UFC 121 in Anaheim.

"GOOD4U Drinks is seen by Zuffa as a direct competitor to Xenergy (which is owned by Zuffa) and AMP Energy which advertises heavily on both WEC events and ****e TV's The Ultimate Fighter program, and although GOOD4U are sport drinks not energy drinks, they have been taking share from these brands," Double D Beverage Co-President Rick DeBanks stated.

Chris Camozzi, Patrick Cote, Matt Hamill and Jon Madsen were four fighters who would have been sponsored on Saturday.

Former UFC interim champ Shane Carwin, who is sponsored by the drink and is prominent throughout the drink's official website, chimed in on Twitter his disappointment with Zuffa's decision.

"And another worthy, great, honorable company supporting fighters banned from the UFC," Carwin tweeted. "Thank you for making a tough road even tougher."

They fuck these guys over so bad its sad. Go get kicked in the head for a living, make relatively little money and arent even able to compensate through endorsements. They need a union or somethin.

oh no a sponsor who only has about 4 fighters under its wing is gone
its not like they were a major sponsor like TapOut or Affliction<-- who are allowed to sponsor UFC fighters again.
there are plenty of sponsors out there yet an the elimination of one low end sports drink won't cripple anyones income....but go ahead with the UFC is the Devil hate

Its not all that serious, but just another example of Dana/the rest flexing their collective muscle and pushing people out. Its kind of sad they get away with it so easily.

            I don't understand this.

These guys get paid crumbs and they aren't allowed to have certain sponsors. That blows.

zuffa blows man. paying these guys peanuts, while most of that money goes to paying trainers anyways.

bull*****. these fighters have slave contracts in ufc. zuffa are like slave masters and dana white is the puppet with small penis syndrome.

              bwahahahahahah!!!

Dan Henderson with his Clinch Gear....they guy is trying to promote his own ****e, Zuffa wont let him earn a very well deserved $$$$$.

Fedor and TapOut which was over 1 million dollar sponsorship......UFC forces TapOut to cancel that sponsorship, costing Fedor a fighter who again deserved and worked hard for his $$$$.

Trust me there are many more examples of Zuffa and their monopolistic tactics that not only hurting MMA but also hurting fighters.

It's called business and every major sporting even and company does it, you would be an IDIOT not to.

Imagine the NFL is sponsored by Nike and they allowed players to wear another brand....that would be moronic.

I don't think the TS understands what "corruption" means. This is not corruption, it's called good business sense.

It's not good business, it's gutter tactics and it's fucking over a lot of hard working fighters. Sponsorship is a big source of revenues for these guys. Did you read the article? If you did, you should've seen that this sponsorship was banned at the last minute, with the fights coming up this weekend. This directly impacts fighters on the card, who will not be earning the dollars that they were already contracted to earn. It also fucks over the company doing the sponsorships, because this circumvents an advertising campaign, and it also makes null funds which had been allocated for the advertising, thus costing them money (you see, corporate finance isn't done in quite the same way as paying down a bill by drawing down your checking account).

Screwing over your business partner and taking food out of the mouth of those who's services you contract to run your show is good, smart business? I would beg to differ.
