Can't deny his contributions to the sport but he has always worked better as a storyteller than a legit historian. Not the most reliable source in boxing knowledge.

I'll read the guy but he is not someone whose writing I particularily look for. Think he is suffering from nat fleischer syndrome been around so long that his age gives him more kudos than I think his knowledge warrants. Also think his writing can have more of him in it than the boxers.

Jack Dempsey one of the top 10 greatest HWs of all time? Perhaps, barely. One of the top ten greatest fighters ever? Laughable.

He's just another old Historian who shows a bias towards fighters of his own generation.

On the one hand ; I cannot deny he is very intelligent and sincere when it comes to giving his opinions on matters related to boxing.

On the other ; I often have a hard time taking anything he says seriously due to the way he continuously downgrades modern fighters and spouts proven myths as fact. (Willie Pep won a round without ever throwing a punch, Ray Robinson knocked out Gene Fullmer going backwards, etc....)

I've learned more from boxing history in here, from old fight clips on youtube, and from your posts than I ever have from Mr.Sugar.
